Keitha Callanan of Marquette had the pleasure of awarding medals to a number of cadets over the past few weeks. Callanan is the National Defender Chair of the Onagomingkway Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution based in Marquette. One of her duties is to award students in both high school and college military programs a medal and small cash prize. This year’s college level winners are Cadets Erin Bennett, Army ROTC at Michigan Technological University, left, and Casey Zampaloni, Air Force ROTC at Tech. Both cadets received the DAR Gold Outstanding Cadet Medal in a ceremony on April 18 in Houghton.
