Representative Keith Bell presented members of the Tanner family the Texas Treasure Business Award to Tanner Motor Company during the meeting of the Henderson County Commissioners Court last Tuesday. Tanner Motor Company has been a staple in Malakoff for 100 years. Rep. Bell, who represents the Fourth District in the Texas House presented the Tanner family with a certificate of accomplishment for 100 years of business ownership along with a flag which flew over the Texas Capitol Building.

A representative from the Henderson County Historical Commission also spoke about the Tanner Motor Company’s commitment to serve customers throughout East Texas for generations.

Commissioners moved to end a contract with Catapult, a health care service provider which screens bloodwork for Henderson County employees. The decision followed a lengthy discussion about the extensive wait-time employees experienced before receiving results.

Commissioners took no action on a request to reimburse Justice of the Peace for Pct. 4, Milton Adams, for the cost of glass repair to his vehicle and hotel costs following a conference he attended earlier this year.

Commissioners reappointed Mike Reardon to Emergency Service District #7, Board of Commissioners. His term will end Dec. 31, 2025.

Cody Seale and Nancy Bertholf were also reappointed to Emergency Service District #12, Board of Commissioners, the term will end Dec. 31, 2025.

Roger Berry, Conley Owen, and Jim Palady were reappointed to Emergency Service District #5, Board of Commissioners. The term will end Dec. 31, 2025.

Commissioners moved to appoint Marvin Miller to Henderson County Emergency Service District #3 Board of Commissioners. John McMaken was reappointed to the ESD District 3 Board of Directors, as well.

The terms will end Dec. 31, 2025.

Berry Beresik, Rick McCune and Patrick Sparks were reappointed to the Emergency Service District #6 Board of Commissioners, for a term ending on Dec. 31, 2025.

Bradford Skiles was also reappointed to the Emergency Service District # 11 Board of Commissioners. The term will end Dec. 31, 2025.

11. The Court took no action regarding financial reports, contracts, or bids, Tuesday.

Payroll Distributions and Accounts Cash Sheet were approved as presented.

Commissioners approved several Right-of-Way permits for fiberoptic cable installation in Pct’s. 3 and 4.

The Court approved Budget amendments as presented. Many of the amendments pertained to several Road and Bridge projects.

Commissioners approved the payment of bills in the amount of $425,737.97 for FY 2023.

Bills totaling $741,346.35 were also approved for the 2024 budget year.

The 2024 bills were a result of payments for employee insurance as well as other items.

Commissioners approved several plats in Pct.’s 1, 2 and 4 following a lengthy discussion about lot size requirements.

Commissioners approved the consent agenda before adjourning.

The next meeting of the Henderson County Commissioners Court will be Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. unless otherwise noted inside the Annex Building, 125 N. Prairieville Street in Athens.
