The chief executive of BAFTA says this year’s event is an “embarrassment of riches”.
Jane Millichip tells Sky News on the red carpet that there is “phenomenal variety” on the shortlists.
“It’s great to see indie films standing alongside huge studio films, really intimate films like Past Lives, great sweeping epics like Oppenheimer, I mean, we’re just so lucky. It’s great,” she says.
Asked if 2024 will be a reset for the film industry following last year’s strikes and cinema chains struggling, Ms Millicip says: “I think the screen arts do go through those ups and downs, ebbs and flows… but I think [they] are pretty resilient on the whole.

“I’m just hoping that, everybody who’s struggled to find work in the last six months or a year will be will be okay.”
