BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Barren Inc. held an award ceremony Tuesday recognizing impactful individuals in the community, handing out awards to three big names that many in the community are familiar with.

The chamber gave out the Magnolia Award, meant to highlight a Barren County woman for her dedication to the community, along with a Small Business Person of The Year and the newly created Lifetime Achievement Award going to Tiffany Somerville, Bobby Lee Hurt and Bo Matthews, respectively.

News 40 spoke to Hurt, who owns Hurt Autosales in Glasgow, who said he was completely surprised. Hurt said he thought he was attending for his daughter, and little did he know he had been nominated himself. Hurt said it was an honor for him, and his favorite memories of owning a business would have to be selling many people in the community their first car.
