The James Beard Foundation announced its 2024 Media Awards nominees on Tuesday and a Triangle culinary legend is included.
Ed Mitchell is featured in Ed Mitchell’s Barbecue. Ed Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell and Zella Palmer are listed as contributors for the book, which has a 4.8 average rating on Amazon. The entry is a nominee in the U.S. Foodways category to recognize books with recipes focused on the cooking or foodways of regions or communities located within the U.S.
Mitchell’s signature cooking has earned him the nickname “The Pitmaster” in the highly competitive barbecue circuit in North Carolina. The book describes Mitchell’s methods for preparing pork barbecue and other traditional southern entrees and sides.
